We could imagine it belongs to a Chinese thinker, living before our ages. But it is the title of the poem* Dan Eldon's destiny makes famous.
Because he lived upon it.

SUCCESS
To laugh often and love much
To win respect of intelligent people

To earn the appreciation of honest critics

To find the best in others
To leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition
To know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
